Which version you have matters

These share a name and not much else that a trip planner cares about. Pack size sets how far you go between stops, and the curve sets how long each one takes.

DC charging curve

Charging power against state of charge, on a charger fast enough not to be the limit. Peak power is 175 kW, but it has halved by about 64% state of charge. That is why a short stop low down the curve usually beats a long one near the top.

Consumption and range by cruise speed

Steady motorway cruising on flat road in mild weather, from the fitted model Wh/km = 59 + 0.0123 · v² for the ID.4 Pro 77 kWh (2025 on, 175 kW). The “usable range” column is the honest one for trip planning: it is 100% down to 10%, because nobody arrives on empty.

What the model does not include

• Elevation. The trip planner does account for climbs and descents; the range figures on this page are flat-road, so an alpine route will come out worse than the table.
• Temperature. These are mild-weather numbers. Cold raises consumption and cuts the charging curve. The planner models both. The numbers on this page do not.
• Wind, rain, roof boxes, payload and tyre choice, all of which move real consumption more than most people expect.
• Charger-side limits. The charging times above assume the site can deliver whatever the car asks for. A 150 kW cabinet shared with the car next to you will not.

Where these numbers come from

VW MEB platform curve: holds peak to ~30% SoC, then near-linear taper. Curated from Fastned model guide + P3 Charging Index style tests. SUV body → higher consumption than ID.3.

VW MEB, 2025-on pack and rear motor: a taller peak than the 120/135 kW generation and a much later taper, so these want a single long stop where the older MEB cars wanted two short ones. Curve fitted to the 10-80% time and average power published by EV Database, cross-checked against the manufacturer's own charging figures. Fitted to the MY26 ID.4 Pro. Same 77 kWh as the 2021-2024 car above and nine minutes quicker from 10 to 80%, which is the whole point of the update and the reason both are listed.
